Five Men Arrested with Fake Notes


Lucknow, Sep 13 (IANS): Five people, linked to a Nepal-based fake currency racket, were arrested in Uttar Pradesh with counterfeit Indian notes worth Rs.2.75 lakh, police said Tuesday.

Aged between 30 and 35 years, the men were nabbed late Monday from Civil Lines locality of Etawah jointly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the district police.

"Preliminary investigations indicate the five men have been working for the Nepal-based racket since the last five years," Inspector Puneet Parihar told reporters in Etawah, some 200 km from here.

"They used to supply fake currency notes in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan," he added.

All the arrested are natives of Uttar Pradesh.
