Bangalore: Darshan's Bail Plea Dismissed
 
Bangalore, Sep 13 (PTI): A local court today rejected the bail plea of popular Kannada actor Darshan who has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening his wife.

First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkatesh Hulagi rejected the bail plea.

Darshan's attempts to secure bail suffered a setback despite his wife retracting her statement in the court yesterday of sustaining head injuries during a fall in bathroom. This ran contrary to her allegations in a police complaint on September 8 that he had assaulted her and threatened her with a revolver.

Darshan was arrested on September 9 and produced before a magistrate who had remanded him to juidicial custody.

Several leading Kannada film personalities had tried to bring about a patch-up between Darshan and his wife.

Police had yesterday requested the court to drop IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) filed against Darshan who is now undergoing treatment for asthma and jaundice in a hospital.

Magistrate Venkatesh Hulagi rejected Darshan's bail plea saying he didn't have jurisdiction to handle cases falling under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder).

Darshan will now have to move the sessions court to seek bail.

    Husband abusing and torturing his wife mentally or/and physically is predominant in our society irrespective of cast/creed/status. In many cases, wife will simply accept it to keep the family intact and will even keep it as a secret to avoid shame. In spite of Darshan's wife taking back the complaint due to pressure, the case should be persisted with , specially because the man involved is a celebrity and the punishment given to him will make a profound statement to all the concerned and will bring down the number of such cases in our society.

    karnataka film produce association bangalore as taken wrong decession in banning the actress Nikitha for three years it is a baseless action by them this ban ordred must be revoked immedietley in the intrest of film industry. Darshan"s case actual culpirt must be funished.instead of making the innnocent lady as a culprit.

    It was a right decision. Several leading Kannada film personalities in the process of patch-up between Darshan and his wife totally ignored the plight of his wife Vijayalaxmi who took all the physical abuses. Karnataka Producers Association without taking Andhra actress Nikitha’s version of the whole story, just banning her for three years was a biased decision. In both the cases the film fraternities were blindly protecting the accused Darshan.

    People,

    Attempt to murder charge here is silly,,, policeman who took the compaint and filed FIR looks like semi-literate guy,,,....

    I always think pocimen are not educated enough to file a FIR,,, they should take their compaliant to APP/PP and take legal opinion before filing a chargesheet.

    This is the main reason for 90-95% of the Criminal cases being dismissed by Criminal Courts....

    Vijayalakshmi later took back her complaint of assault .Is there any Law for filing False complaint? If So File Case against her for wasting court & police time .
