Mangaluru: Naringana Kambala festival to be inaugurated on Jan 13

Mangaluru, Jan 9: “Naringana Kambala known as the first government Kambala in the history of Ullal will be inaugurated for the second year at the Lava Kusha fields, Morla Bola, Naringana village on January 13,” said Kambala committee president U T Khader.

“Naringana Kambala is being held together by people of all religions and is a model of communal harmony to the entire country. Leaders of various religions will take part in the inauguration at 10.30 am on January 13,” he said.

“The hall programme will be held at 3.30 pm. KPCC president and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, ministers G Parameshwara, Dinesh Gundurao, B Nagendra, Rahim Khan, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, opposition party leader in council Kota Srinivas Poojary, SCDCC Bank president Dr N Rajendra Kumar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other dignitaries are expected to participate,” he said.

Kambala committee president Prashanth Kajava, chief secretary Nawaz Naringana, chief convener Girish Alva and other office-bearers were present.

A special helipad is being laid out for the arrival of ministers from Bengaluru.

Rajyotsava awardee Mahala Shetty Manisagu, N Ravindra Shetty Nuliyalu and N Padmanabha Naringana will be felicitated during the event.

Owners of selected buffaloes will be felicitated during the programme.

A sports tournament for women under floodlights is being arranged from 3 pm on January 15. The tournament will be conducted under the leadership of former zilla panchayat president Mamatha D S Gatti.
