Mangaluru: Modi proclaimed world's greatest leader by Maldives - MLA Vedavyas Kamath

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 10: “In a notable acknowledgment, Maldives, spurred by the anger from Indian citizens over provocative tweets against Prime Minister Modi, has fined its three ministers. This is a testament to the admiration and popularity Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi holds worldwide,” said MLA Vedavyas Kamath.

Speaking to media, the MLA further said, “During our Prime Minister's visit to Lakshadweep, Maldives, with unwarranted criticism, became the reason behind the initiation of the #Boycott_Maldives campaign. Over 10,000 tourists from India cancelled their trips to Maldives, dealing a significant economic blow to the country. As this boycott continues, the nation is grappling with financial repercussions.

“Despite certain Congress leaders making trivial remarks about PM Modi, the Karnataka government has taken no retaliatory actions. This is an unfortunate situation.

“The popularity of PM Modi and India's capabilities, as witnessed by Maldives, seeking forgiveness for their actions, is being observed globally. Even in such circumstances, some uninformed Congress leaders continue to speak lightly about Prime Minister Modi, which is an extremely distressing matter,” he said.

"This whole boycott of Maldives is so silly. Just because some Maldivian ministers said Modi is a clown. Which is true, anyway. Going snorkeling with a life jacket, with two people holding him up, all to compete with a super-fit, younger political rival who can walk thousands of miles, goes to the gym daily, and is an Aikido black belt? And who is so comfortable in the water that he can jump into it from a boat, in his street clothes, in the middle of the sea? Only a clown would even think of filming a stunt like that or try to set up such a comparison. You're never going to win that one. But the reason the outrage over the Maldivian comments is silly is that hardly anyone in India except the really rich folks can think of going to the Maldives. So what exactly are you boycotting if you can't afford to go there anyway? And most Indians can't afford to go to Lakshadweep either. The most someone in Bangalore can afford is to go to Mysore. The most someone in Mumbai can afford is to go to Pune. (Goa is too expensive.) The most someone in Chennai can afford is Mahabalipuram. Boycotting things you can't afford has a name. It's called "sour grapes." I'm not talking, of course, of Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar, and the like, who can go to Paris or New York or Dubai or London whenever they wish. I'm talking of the average tapori who's typing "Bycott Moldivs" as we speak because his feelings are hurt because someone called his Vishwaguru a clown." Seshadri Kumar

Muizzu, the current President of Maldives won in the elections a few months ago purely on the basis of the slogan 'India Out' (read 'China In' ). They sent home some 75 Indian Army personnel deployed there to maintain some helicopters and aircrafts India had gifted them many year ago. Usually their newly elected President's first state visit abroad is to India. But this time it is China.. This week, Muizzi s actually on a 5 day state visit to China ( Read ' walking right into a debt trap'). Those ministers must have seen PM Modi's remarks on tourism potential in Lakshadweep as a deliberate threat to Maldives. Maldives is almost a 100% Islamic state and Modi's Hindutva agenda must be irking greatly too. India has helped them so much in the past during Covid, provided them free vaccinations. Contributing to their economy. Despite all that now they are spitting on the plate that they have fed them. Its typical common factor.

Before pointing fingers or making communal statements remember that people of one faith are working/ living or in short begging in countries of people of other faiths. Don’t go far to see that. You can just see how many of your countrymen work in gulf, European nations? Your country helped everyone during covid but how come so many deaths were reported in your own country? Your country helped other counties with a intention or in other words medical diplomacy? Or perhaps scared of China How come the leader of your country who has travelled around the world in the last 9 years only remembered Lakshadweep now? What was his crooked intention? First clean your own mess before pointing fingers at others.

The keyboard warrior ministers of Maldives were high on the victory and just could not handle the fact that there are beaches and islands everywhere. The way junior ministers bad mouthed, show the true meaning behind "Go India" campaign that they ran to come to power. There is a cost for everything including abusing a reputed world leader. In coming months, the cost incurred on this account will only grow. High inflation in Europe & west means less disposable cash to travel. Indians will think twice after the Yahud-Hanud connection and the fact that Indian Government will not be able to come to the rescue of Indian tourists.

Mayya, The tall world leader couldn't get visa to the US for many years and India is still in the list of poverty, in scams India is among 5 nations of the world. In intolerance and hatred India is there. Your tall leader couldn't get visa free to many countries, when others say about us we get agitated, when your leader said to sell Pakoda, you didn't had any issues. During Corona, he asked to bang utensils and all dimwits did it without asking scientific reasoning behind it. It is good to adore a leader, but when that leader doesn't benefit the growth of the nation, alleviate poverty, treats all citizens the same. No venom, no red carpet to Adani etc. Then you call him as tallest leader.

Dear Shekhar Umesh Shetty, Namma Kudla, You need to get a little bit out of Namma Kudla and get a reality check. If you did not understand or do now know does not mean you are right. US denying visa then and allowing him now is clear. On intolerance, whose example should we emulate, US? Baharain? China? or KSA? Europe is clearly intolerant by any standards. Whatever he asked people to do during COVID, he did tell the reason. It was not to shoo away the virus but to thank the medical fraternity. Anyway, your narrative sounds like a person who is frustrated. Hope you will find one first and then elect a leader who will be better than Modi.

Promoting Lakshadeep is a very good initiative. Even most of us willing to go to our own Indian Island. However Lakshadeep is a dry state, lack of infrastructure, moreover, Indian tourist must carry a permit to travel there & its not simple. By considering these, do the tourist go in huge numbers! is a question mark. In last paragraphs report says, Karnataka govt did not react. I wonder why should Karnataka government react! What our State Govt has got to do with Maldives?

The Maldives is a country and an archipelagic state in South Asia, situated in the Indian Ocean. It lies southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 750 kilometres (470 miles; 400 nautical miles) from the Asian continent's mainland. The Maldives' chain of 26 atolls stretches across the equator from Ihavandhippolhu Atoll in the north to Addu Atoll in the south. Comprising a territory spanning roughly 90,000 square kilometres (35,000 sq mi) including the sea, and a land area of 298 square kilometres (115 sq mi), the Maldives is the smallest country in Asia, as well as one of the world's most geographically dispersed sovereign states.
