Mangaluru, Jan 10: “In a notable acknowledgment, Maldives, spurred by the anger from Indian citizens over provocative tweets against Prime Minister Modi, has fined its three ministers. This is a testament to the admiration and popularity Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi holds worldwide,” said MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
Speaking to media, the MLA further said, “During our Prime Minister's visit to Lakshadweep, Maldives, with unwarranted criticism, became the reason behind the initiation of the #Boycott_Maldives campaign. Over 10,000 tourists from India cancelled their trips to Maldives, dealing a significant economic blow to the country. As this boycott continues, the nation is grappling with financial repercussions.
“Despite certain Congress leaders making trivial remarks about PM Modi, the Karnataka government has taken no retaliatory actions. This is an unfortunate situation.
“The popularity of PM Modi and India's capabilities, as witnessed by Maldives, seeking forgiveness for their actions, is being observed globally. Even in such circumstances, some uninformed Congress leaders continue to speak lightly about Prime Minister Modi, which is an extremely distressing matter,” he said.
