Mangaluru, Jan 11: In a well-coordinated operation, police arrested three individuals accused of robbing 97.11 grams of golden ornaments valued at Rs six lac from a local jewellery shop. The suspects carried out the heist by posing as customers.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammed Sinan (25) and Hyder Ali Asil (20), both residents of Manjanady, and Mohammed Tanwir (34), a resident of Natekal.

The incident came to light when a complaint was filed at the north police station on January 3, reporting the theft of golden ornaments from the jewellery shop. The thieves successfully diverted the attention of the salesperson during the robbery.

Upon investigation, the police managed to recover golden ornaments worth Rs six lac, the scooter used in the crime, and two mobile phones. The total estimated value of the confiscated goods is Rs 7.15 lac.

Police commissioner Anupam Agarwal revealed that Mohammed Tanwir has a previous case of dacoity filed against him, while Hyder Ali Asil faces two assault charges at the Konaje police station.
