CWG Scam: CBI Registers Fresh Case

New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday filed a fresh case in connection with the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) and conducted searches in Delhi and Mumbai, officials said.

"The case has been filed in connection with the construction of a sports stadium at the Siri Fort Complex," CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra told reporters.

"Raids are being conducted in Delhi and Mumbai in connection with the case," she added.

This is the first case registered by the SIT which was formed to study the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on CWG.

The Commonwealth Games in October last year were marred by charges of corruption, dubious contracts and poor execution of various projects.
