Refusal to attend Ram mandir inaugural due to fear of losing minority votes: Joshi tells CM

Bengaluru, Jan 11 (IANS): Union Minister for Mine, Coal, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi on Thursday said that the Congress party’s decision not to attend the Ram mandir inauguration was taken out of fear of losing minority votes.

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had released a press statement and put out a social media post supporting the Congress party’s decision not to attend the inauguration of the Ram mandir.

Reacting to the statement, Union Minister Joshi stated in Bengaluru, “They have rejected the invitation fearing loss of minority votes. They had not attended the inauguration of the Somnath temple. People are observing the height of appeasement politics by the Congress party.”

Further, rebutting CM Siddaramaiah on social media, Joshi stated, “Mr. Siddaramaiah it is not a rally being conducted by the Congress party, which was founded by a foreign national, which is being held in Ayodhya. It is a programme of the installation of the statue of Sri Ram who represents the devotion of 140 crore Indians.”

“Those who have faith in Sri Ram will visit the temple without bothering about politics. You have come to power through false assurances and in order to hide the failures of governance, you should not bring these futile matters to the forefront. Not only the state, the whole nation is seeing which direction your false government is moving in,” he charged.

Mr Joshi, you only concentrate on your party. Entire Country knows, in spite of Ram Mandir is not completed, the Pran pratisha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22 will be executed by a Political and national leader not by religious priest. First clean your backyard first.

What minorities ? We all are Indians and that’s our religion. Today a Saudi National tweeted in response to Indian and Pakistanis quering on Smriti Iranis India attire on her visit to the holy place of worship. ‘’Its our land, our country , our rules! Just because your ancestors converted and gave you an Arabic name, does not mean you have an opinion on it. You are irrelevant and we are not the same’. The tweet holds apt for every one the subcontintent who equates themselevs to arabs.

It's not gaining votes or losing, Lord RAMA is not in any political party. BJP only included him as their member. What some parties going to boycott the immigration is some what correct. Because LK ADVANI is one of the main person to construct this Temple, I would have supported if they ask LK ADVANI JI to inaugurate the Temple and his name should have been on the top. They have ditched him. Like Nehru ji is main person to have modern India after independence. But what is happening?

Essentially this is bajapa's show of strength rather than anything to do with the deity... At times it feels that opposition are right in their own way in boycotting the ceremony... It is not against the religion but only against the vehemence of bajapa...

Minorities have voted to Congress and all opposition and sent to the parliament. Why you have disqualified M.P's just to easy passing of blah, blah.... bills. Dear Joshi, the parliament attackers lover Pratap Simha gave pass to attack the parliament, why not disqualified and dismissed from the party. Speak Prahlad Joshi. Why did the RSS informed you not to dismiss Pratap Simha from the parliament.

I don’t agree with Joshi .. Congress is not attending the coronation ceremony since they had argued in Supreme Court stating Ram never existed (Ram Sethu Case) … So obviously why they will not attend the ceremony.. 2024 elections congress will wipe out from states and they will not be able to have leader of opposition from thier party

We all dream of the day when India will become a country, where each and every Indian lives well above the poverty line. Sadly, this dream will remain a dream if politicians in all political parties in India (bar none) use religion in one way or the other, big or small just to win the elections, which will eventually lead to money and power. This "modus operandi" will create more chaos, bloodshed and division in the years to come. The future of India is in our hands, and I sincerely hope and pray that Almighty God bless us all.

Siddu's politics is precisely that. However, Congress will have to fight the mindset of minorities who still think that they are natural heirs of India. Muslims derive energy for differentiation not from identification with KSA but based on episodes of rulership of several invaders. Christians are no different. India then and today is very accepting exactly as people here today are regardless of their religious affiliation. It is just that Congress would not let go of its colonial hangover and some select few minorities' religious leaders would not let go of the privileges that made them feel artificially superior. Issue again is not religious but political. India's problem is not religion, world's problem is actually religion. India's problem is we mixed religion with politics whilst we preached Secularism that was in fact minority appeasement.

Mr. Mayya, I will take strong objections to your comment, which is full of malicious outrage against minorities. First of all it is anyone's personal wish to attend any program if invited. You have no right to question someone's personal choice. Secondly you conveniently forgot the contribution of Christians in the nations development. I am sure you have studied in a minority institution at some point in your life, if at all you have. Shame on you!!!
