Mangaluru: Fisherman loses life as boat hits rock in deep sea

Mangaluru, Jan 13: In a tragic turn of events, a resident of Mogaveerapatna, lost his life as the rope of his boat was severed, causing it to collide with a rock in the deep sea.

The deceased is identified as Michael.

Michael, along with two others, had set out for fishing in a country boat. While waiting for their catch near a rock in the midst of the sea, a sudden surge in wind velocity led to the boat's rope being cut.

The boat collided with a rock, causing Michael's head to hit a protruding wooden piece. Despite immediate efforts by his companions to rescue him, Michael succumbed to the impact of the wooden piece against his head.

The mortal remains of Michael were brought ashore with the assistance of another boat. The Ullal police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
