Mangaluru, Jan 13: The excise department police apprehended an individual transporting 114 boxes of Goa-manufactured liquor in a goods tempo vehicle bound for Kerala on Saturday January 13.

The accused, identified as Radhakrishna Kamath, alias Sadananda Kamath, a resident of Honnavar, was arrested at Mudipu-Netthilapadav. The officials seized liquor valued at Rs 6,87,720 and the goods tempo vehicle.

Kamath had ingeniously hidden the liquor under coconut shells within the vehicle, employing a method similar to his previous arrest.

This is not Kamath's first encounter with the law. Earlier, on July 9, 2023, he was arrested by Kerala police in Kasargod for transporting 2484 litres of illegal liquor to Kerala.

The case is currently under court proceedings, and despite facing charges, Kamath was released on bail.
