Madhya Pradesh, Jan 14: Pramod Agarwal, who served as the CEO of Coal India for three years, a public undertaking under the Union coal ministry, has resigned to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The current market capitalization of Coal India stands at Rs 1,78,000 crore.
Agarwal has an academic background in civil engineering from IIT Bombay and completed his post-graduation in design engineering from IIT Delhi in 1988. With over 30 years of experience in public service, he has previously held key positions such as principal secretary in the Department of Education, Skill Development, and Employment, as well as the Department of Labour in the Madhya Pradesh government.
During his extensive career, Agarwal has served as the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Finance Corporation and held the position of Collector in Morena and Mahasamund districts. Additionally, he served as the Chairman cum Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company and worked as the CEO of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Development Authority.
Agarwal's professional journey also includes training in infrastructure development and financing from IIM Ahmedabad, along with specialized training in project appraisal and risk management from Duke University in Raleigh, US, which further honed his managerial capabilities.
