Udupi, Jan 14: The Malpe police have arrested three persons on charges of creating a ruckus in Addabengre and causing public unrest by indulging in street fight using machete.
Those arrested were Mohammad Saqlain, Abdul Raqib and Savin alias Sunmit Tejpal while subjecting them to an interrogation.
ASI Santosh Kumar was on night patrol on January 12 when PSI called him to inform him that three persons holding machetes were creating a ruckus in Addabengre. Thereafter, the ASI went to Oasis Guest House and moved the public to safety before arresting the three persons.
The police brought Panch to the spot who informed the police about the incident. The police checked the vehicles used by the accused which were a Bajaj Pulsar NS without a registration number valued at Rs 80,000 and another vehicle, a scooter, bearing registration number KA20 EW1256 containing a machete was also checked.
The vehicles were taken into possession by the police. Further action is being taken.
A case has been registered at the Malpe police station under the number 05/2024 Clause: 4, 25(1)(a) of the Prohibition of Weapons Act.
