New Delhi, Jan 16: Despite securing a high-profile job after cracking the toughest UPSC examination in his first attempt, Dr Vikas Divyakirti, a popular IAS tutor, made a significant career shift by leaving his position to pursue a passion for tutoring aspirants for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Dr Vikas completed his BA at Delhi University, where he developed a natural flair for Hindi literature, influenced by his parents who were both Hindi literature educators. Driven by his passion, he pursued MA, MPhil, and PhD in Hindi literature. Additionally, he holds a postgraduate degree in translating from English to Hindi. His proficiency in the language inspired many UPSC aspirants to opt for Hindi as their medium of examination.
In 1999, Dr Vikas founded Drishti IAS coaching center, which has become a prominent institution for UPSC preparation. His YouTube channel boasts more than 10 million subscribers, receiving millions of hits daily. Dr Vikas covers a wide array of subjects on his channel, including religion, geopolitics, philosophy, science, and guidance on UPSC preparation.
Initially posted in the ministry of home affairs after clearing the IAS examination in 1996 on his first attempt, Dr Vikas served for a year. However, driven by a calling to teach and his exceptional command of the language, he left the high-profile job to establish Drishti IAS coaching center. Since its inception, countless students from his classes have gone on to serve as IAS, IPS, and IFS officers in India.
