Cabinet okays approach paper to 12th Five Year Plan


New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS): The union cabinet headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday approved the approach paper that targets nine percent economic growth during the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-13 to 2116-17) period.

"The cabinet has approved the approach paper and it will be placed before the National Development Council next month," Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters after the cabinet meeting here.

She said the theme of the next five year plan would be "faster, sustainable and more inclusive growth".

"Health, education and skill development, environment and natural resources and infrastructure development will be focus areas in the 12th Plan," Soni said.
