Udupi, Jan 17: “I have donated money for the construction of Rama Mandira in Ayodhya. I have huge faith in Lord Ram. I will be visiting Ayodhya during the days to come,” said minister of women's and children's welfare, empowerment of the differently abled and senior citizens and Udupi district in-charge minister Lakshmi R Hebbalkar.

“I celebrate our culture and devotion. I will not speak about the actions of the party in connection with Rama Mandira. I am not the president of the party and not in a high position in the party. I am repeatedly saying that I am a devotee of the deity,” she said.

She was speaking to news reporters here on Wednesday. She further said, “I will definitely visit Rama Mandira someday. Rama Mandira is neither theirs nor ours. It is of 140 crore people.”

She also informed, “The government has been providing complete cooperation for the historic Paryaya Mahotsava of Sri Krishna Math. Rs 30 crore have already been released for the development of the city.

"The chief minister has taken action for the release of Rs 10 crore for the Paryaya of math. I will be participating in the Paryaya Mahotsava with my entire family for the first time. I will provide all the possible cooperation for the event.

"The chief minister and the deputy chief minister will not be able to participate in the event due to various reasons. But home minister Dr G Parameshwar will take part in it,” she said.

On MP Anantkumar Hegde’s recent comments against Siddaramaiah, she said, “BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde who was not in the news during the last four and a half years has come to limelight all of a sudden when the elections are approaching. He does not have the moral right to criticise the Congress party and the chief minister.

"Khanapur of Belagavi also comes under Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency. But the MP has not visited there even once. He has also not listened to the people's grievances. He has come forward by inciting statements now. Those who are in the responsible position of MP should speak with responsibility. Irresponsible statements have been his work since the beginning,” she said.

She also said, "The Congress party will win the highest number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. There are 25 BJP MPs in the state but they have not responded positively to the problems in the state. People in the state have been watching everything closely. I am confident that people will support the Congress party this time.”
