Slumbering Karnataka CM fails to see funds released by Centre: Bommai

Bengaluru, Jan 17 (IANS): Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday that it seems like Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has just got up from deep slumber and has failed to see the funds released by the Centre.

He said, “CM Siddaramaiah is talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi who works 18 hours daily for the country and has not taken a single day’s holiday in the last nine-and-a-half years.”

In a series of tweets, former CM Bommai said, “During the UPA Government’s regime between 2004 and 2014, Karnataka received Rs 81,795 crore in the form of tax distribution and Rs 60,779 crore in the form of grants. In the current NDA dispensation from 2014 till December 2023, the state received Rs 2,82,791 crore in tax distribution and Rs 2,08,882 crore as grants.

“In the month of May, the state got Rs 360 crore and a decision has been made to release another Rs 348 crore. Despite this, the current Congress Government has not been able to release a single rupee towards the compensation to farmers for crop damage due to drought.”

Bommai questioned, “Is the state treasury empty because of which the relief has not been released in one shot?”

“Why do politics and blame the Centre when Upper Krishna and Mahadayi projects are pending before the Supreme Court? In the current Union Budget, Rs 5,300 crore has been earmarked for the Upper Bhadra project. Who is in deep slumber and unable to take benefit of the same?” Bommai questioned.

“In the last five years, the Centre has given Rs 30,000 crore for national highways. The Bengaluru-Mysore Highway on which you travel had been built out of the money given by the Modi Government. Have you not experienced it?” Bommai said.

"Under the Smart City project, Rs 1,327 crore had been released. Similarly, are you not seeing the share of the Modi Government in the flow of funds for the development of railways and ports? Under the Kisan Samman scheme, Rs 10,990 crore has been released. In the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the Centre has given treatment to over 62 lakh people. This shows the relentless efforts and hard work of the Modi Government. During the Corona pandemic, the Modi Government made sure over 10 crore doses of vaccine were administered to the people. Have you not seen it as you are sleeping," he maintained.

"It is unfortunate for the people as you haven't woken up from the deep slumber and driven Karnataka to the state of penury due to lack of development," Bommai claimed.

Modi does not need to take leave. He is enjoying life at the cost of Public Money. Goes to Lakshyadeep to enjoy the beach, goes to US, Europe with pretext of creating relationship which is actually with his Guju friends to do election campaign, Visits South India on election campaign, all this is nothing but pleasure trips at Govt cost. Why does he need leave. If at all he works 18 hours a day, it is for saving his party from a loss in next election.

If he has not taken a single day leave, what he was doing in Lakshadweep? This takla has lost his memory. Nothing wrong in taking a holiday though. But fooling public with blatant lies that too as a former CM shows him in poor light.

Would be great if we can see, the exact funds released year-wise from the Centre, as both BJP & Congress have rules Karnataka from 2014-2023. The amount of funds released will be based on the NPV of funds, higher numbers in recent years does not mean more value for money. Simply put what you could buy in 1000 rupees in 2004, would easily cost around a lakh or more today.

Do not give funds anymore than Siddu deserves as per constitution. Siddu/DKShi combine want to take Karnataka down the road that DMK is taking TN. There will never be good news from freebies. Ah, Congress is desperate for money to fight the next Lokh Sabha election. Siddu has started abusing his own PM in the name of free speech. It is flying in some quarters.

If the funds are released from centre then how Siddu would know, Modi has to confirm it then Siddu will acknowledge if he receives it. Ask first Modi to confirm release of funds if he is free from temple inauguration duty which are not at all important constitutional duties and not his sworn in duties and responsibilities.

please do at least some searches to find out. dont argue without data just for sake of it. What was the petrol price in 2004 to 2014 in India? When the UPA-I came to power in May 2004, the price of petrol in Delhi was Rs. 33.71 per litre. Ten years on, when Narendra Modi took over as the PM in May 2014, petrol was priced at Rs. 71.41 per litre in the national capital.

Is Bomma doing PeepingTom duty for centre?????….. Did he see fund deposited then give the detail of fund transactions since it’s digital transaction so nobody can tamper the transaction data. BTW, for all non-BJP ruled states it’s very hard get the amount of thier fair share. Even W. Bengal too is suffering from step motherly treatment from centre. At the same time in BJP ruled states all the funds from centre go straight to BJP ministers pocket. It’s a fact.
