KWAR Meets KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza

KWAR representatives Nelson D’Souza (internal auditor) and Victor Menezes (executive member) met Ivan D’Souza, KPCC secretary, who was on a short visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the first week of this month in Riyadh and presented him a memorandum and feasibility study, urging him to endeavour to accelerate the campaign of the direct flight from Riyadh to Mangalore with the ministry and authorities concerned.

In the memorandum, KWAR said that it was its one of the long-awaiting milestone objectives, which really brought the Association into existence.  It reiterated that KWAR has met several civil aviation authorities including then minister for civil aviation, Praful Patel and others, requesting them to launch the direct flight at the earliest; however, the dream of direct flight has still not been realized due to various reasons including the tragic flight crash in Mangalore. It also underscored that despite enormous regular potential travelers from Riyadh to Mangalore,  no direct flight has been connected to Mangalore so far while other Gulf countries do have; the people have to suffer a lot by travelling through other routes.

Ivan has given a assurance that he will bring the issue to the authorities including the discussion with Capt Ganesh Karnik, the vice-president of Karnataka NRI Forum in this respect. He appreciated the activities of KWAR and for giving him hearty welcome in Riyadh. He urged the various groups in the KSA to come together for common interest and reminded all NRIs to register with the government sponsored ID programme whenever they visit India.
