Bengaluru, Jan 20: BJP Opposition Leader in the Assembly R Ashok has criticised the Congress government for not paying compensation to farmers even after seven months since the drought.
The BJP leader, has in a tweet on X, accused the Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda of ‘wasting time merely on issuing statements and doing precious little to help the farmers’.
Ashok has asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately release compensation to the farmers, who lost their crops due to drought, and also permit sale of foodgrains on the rates fixed under Support Price Mechanism.
He also said the supervisors were not permitting the famers to record details of their crops and even 25% of farmers have been able comply with the norms for recording in the database.
The opposition leader said the State Exchequer has become bankrupt due to implementation of the guarantee promises and demanded that the farmers must be provided with immediate relief.
