I fully agree with your views. If I were the Congress president ( fortunately I am not) I would not only accept the invitation but be present there at all the photo ops,I would ask party workers to hold all religion prayers at the time of inauguration, at all city, town, village and booth levels.People would be informed that ExPm Shri Rajiv Gandhi had first ordered opening of the locks in 1986 and idols had mysteriously appeared at the site in 1949 during the time of Nehruji , the idol was among the first noticed by Abdul Barkat who saw a flash of light and saw a figure of a God like child ... This would give a boost to communal harmony and bring votes to the party from all, cutting across religious lines. Minorities who voted for Congress will continue to vote for the party, but many from the majority would also vote for the Congress, appeasement of majority is required to win in democracy. We miss leaders like Indiraji and Rajivji.

There is no requirements of stringent security measure, majority of Muslims will not have any issue on this inauguration. There may be chances like BJP will pay some Muslim organization to create issue on this subject to get some vote.
