Sullia, Jan 21: A fancy store's godown near the private bus stand here faced a destructive fire on Saturday, resulting in the loss of goods worth lacs of rupees.
The owner of the shop noticed smoke emerging from the godown and promptly informed the neighboring shop owner. The locals, along with the shop owner, effectively contained the fire by using water. Despite their efforts, fancy goods valued at lakhs of rupees were engulfed in flames by the time the fire was brought under control.
Town Panchayat member Shilpa Sudev visited the site to assess the damage.
