Sullia, Jan 21: Forest department official personnel were successful in sending baby elephant which is just two to three month old that had got separated from the herd back into the forest.
On Thursday night, a herd of elephants entered the farm at Kanyana. But, the baby elephant had got left behind when the herd returned to the forest.
Forest department officials took the baby elephant and kept it in their camp and were trying to locate the herd of elephants in the forest to send the baby elephant back into the forest. Their attempts did not yield any result till Friday night.
In the third attempt, the baby elephant was recognised by its mother elephant that was roaming around within Bengatmale limits of the forest and took it into its care. Forest officials have confirmed the same.
Forest officials, wildlife personnel and locals were involved in the operation.
