Mangaluru, Jan 21: MCC Bank Ltd is organizing the 'Milestone Event Celebration' for its 1000 crore business turnover on Sunday, January 21, at Milagres Jubilee Hall, Mangaluru.

On this occasion, Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank, presided over the program, expressing, "As the Chairman of MCC Bank, I take immense pride in presiding over this celebratory occasion. Our bank aims to be inclusive, just as our ancestors envisioned. We take pride in providing the best facilities for NRIs. Personally, this institution is like a school to me. Joining MCC Bank has been an amazing experience, where I've learned a lot from every individual. From a turnover of 503 crores in September 2018, today, we stand at a remarkable Rs 1000 crores. This journey was challenging, but our loyal customers stood by us. We've introduced benefits like shifting our banks to the ground floor for the convenience of senior citizens. Offering attractive schemes for students, providing a 5% interest rate, and inspiring kids towards savings is our commitment. Our 8.75% education loan, the best in the entire state, reflects our dedication to education. We aim to expand further, reaching every corner. For the first time, our NPA has risen to 10.38%, a testament to our dedication and hard work. We are now planning to establish more branches. This is just the beginning of our journey."

Also present on this occasion was CA Rudolf Rodrigues, Chartered Accountant, M/s Rodrigues and D'Souza, Mangaluru. In his keynote address, he said, "As we gather here to celebrate MCC Bank's achievement of reaching a 1000-crore turnover, I, as a Chartered Accountant, commend the bank for becoming the first in the coastal district to attain this significant milestone. Anil Lobo's leadership has been crucial in this success story. All the 16 branches are senior citizens friendly, providing customers with a pleasant banking experience. Anil Lobo and his team have not only doubled the turnover but have set their sights on reaching the 2000 crore-mark in record time. I believe that just as India's economy is growing to become the third-best in the world in the next five years, MCC Bank will play a significant role in contributing to this growth. My advice to the management is to keep improving, and I extend my congratulations to Anil Lobo and the entire MCC staff for making many lives happy."

The Chief Guest of the event, Michael D'Souza, NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist, expressed his views, stating, "As the Chief Guest, I must acknowledge that MCC Bank, once thought of as a small bank, has now achieved a remarkable milestone under the leadership of Anil Lobo and his team. It feels nice to congratulate them on this achievement. Looking at the bank's past performance, it is evident that Anil Lobo and his team have progressed systematically over five years. To sustain this growth, it's crucial to conduct periodic performance evaluations. While the overall economy has grown, the enthusiasm in MCC Bank seems to have increased. My advice to Anil Lobo is to set ambitious targets and double the deposits in the coming year. Trust, customer support, and service are the pillars of any business, and it's the bank's responsibility to take care of the money and support marginalized customers. Year on year, MCC Bank can achieve its targets, and I hope it continues to retain its distinct identity, avoiding any mergers in the future. It's a pleasure to be part of this historical event, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to MCC Bank for its achievements."

On this occasion, Anil Lobo was felicitated and honored with the 'Sahakara Ratna Award' for his hard work and dedication at MCC Bank. New projects of the bank, such as E Lobby, Passbook printing Kiosk, Personalized cheque book, were launched, and the fourth bulletin of the bank was also released. To make the event memorable and express solidarity with society in general, financial aids will be distributed to Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pambur, Udupi, Suraksha Charitable Trust, Karkala, Prajna Chinnara Tangudama Kendra, Kapikad, Mangalore.

The expansion and setting up of new branches almost came to a standstill in the year 2002 with 16 branches and an area of operation confined to DK and Udupi Districts. Now the bank has got permission to expand its area of operation to five more districts named Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Hasan, and Uttara Kannada.

Guests of honor such as Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, parish priest, Our Lady of Miracles Church Milagres; J R Lobo, former MLA, Mangaluru South; along with Ivan D'Souza, former MLC; Rohan Monterio, managing director, Rohan Corporation, Mangaluru; and Pius L Rodrigues, former director, pollution control board, and managing director, Levin electricals, Bantwal, and other dignitaries were present.
