Bengaluru, Jan 23: In a proactive move to prioritize passenger safety, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has implemented a new measure to support drivers working night shifts. The corporation has distributed high-quality 500 ml thermos flasks to around 1600 drivers operating buses during night-time hours.
A recent study revealed an increased incidence of accidents involving KSRTC buses between 3 am and 4 am. Recognizing the importance of driver alertness during this critical period, the corporation initiated the distribution of thermos flasks. This provision enables drivers to have coffee or tea and refresh themselves during the early morning hours when roadside hotels are typically closed.
KSRTC emphasizes that drivers can carry hot beverages in these flasks from the hotels where they stop for night dinner. Having access to coffee or tea during the 3 am to 4 am timeframe is expected to prevent drowsiness, contributing to enhanced driver alertness and, subsequently, ensuring the safety of passengers traveling on KSRTC buses.
