Bantwal: Job scam - Marine engineering student cheated of Rs 2.10 lac

Bantwal, Jan 23: A marine engineering student, Bhavith K N (23), residing in Biliyoor village, Perne, Bantwal, has fallen victim to a job scam, losing Rs 2,10,000.

While searching for job opportunities, Bhavith came across a person named Prajwal on Instagram. On June 5, 2023, Prajwal visited Bhavith in Bengaluru and discussed the process of securing a marine engineering job, indicating that it would cost Rs 3 lacs. Between June 16, 2023, and August 28, 2023, Bhavith remitted Rs 2,10,000 in phases to Prajwal's bank account.

However, after receiving the money, Prajwal informed Bhavith that he was unable to find a job and promised to refund the amount within 10 days. Unfortunately, Prajwal has neither returned the money nor arranged a job for Bhavith as of now.

A police case has been registered at Uppinangadi police station under crime No. 11/2024, IPC sections 417 and 420, and investigations are underway.
