Mangaluru: Foundation laid for DKMUL’s warehouse, employee quarters inaugurated

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The foundation stone laying ceremony of the warehouse and the inauguration of employee quarters was held at the Dakshina Kannada Co Operative Milk Producers Union Ltd (DKMUL) at Kulshekar on Wednesday January 24.

The warehouse will be worth Rs 7.3 crore and it has been built as the union is planning to increase the production of bi-products. Fifteen quarters for employees have been purchased at Vandana Calisto apartment worth Rs 6 crore.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath laid foundation stone for the warehouse while Karnataka Assembly speaker U T Khader inaugurated the employee quarters.

Addressing the gathering, U T Khader stated, "Today, we are elated that the foundation stone has been laid for a new warehouse, and employee quarters have been inaugurated. We should all work towards ensuring that dairy farming expenses are low, as higher profits will encourage more farmers to engage in dairy farming."

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Since 2014, our country has witnessed a transformation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given importance to the cooperative sector and announced that by 2024, the income of farmers will be doubled. Due to a lack of facilities, dairy farming in Dakshina Kannada is diminishing."

MLA Vedavyas Kamath also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Speaker U T Khader and the DKMUL board of directors were felicitated.

DKMUL president Sucharitha Shetty welcomed the gathering.

MLCs Manjunath Bhandary and Prathapsimha Nayak, former mayor Bhaskar Moily, district Congress president Harish Kumar, vice president DKMUL S B Jayaram Rai, managing director Vivek D and others were present.
