The present generation of students are fortunate to have an advanced education system and good institutions, noted renowned senior theatre director and artiste (also member of parliament, Rajya Sabha) Dr B Jayashree.

She was speaking as the chief guest after releasing the 10 edition of Muller Pulse 'Neon', the annual magazine of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) at the FMMC Decennial Memorial Hall on Saturday September 17.

"Two types of institutions that impress me are those run by missionaries and those by Ramakrishna ashramas, both of which uphold values of dedication and discipline" she said.

She further said that there was need for young doctors to extend their service in villages. Pointing out that the personality of Father Muller was ideal she urged the institutional heads to extend their service in northern parts of Karnataka where poor people are neglected by the health sector.
 
Prof B Viveka Rai, visiting professor, Wurzburg University, Germany presiding over the programme launched the new website hosted by the institution. He said that he had observed many educational institutions do not update their websites regularly or give enough information. Educational websites should be interactive,he said

He called upon the budding doctors to communicate with patients which would help them to learn a lot about their patients.
 
Dr Laxman Prabhu, consultant urologist, Mangalore was the guest of honour. He said that being a regular reader of a magazine was the only way to respect its authors.
 
Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC introduced the guests. Dr J P Alva, dean, FMMC welcomed. Dr Kuldeep Moras, staff advisor, Tinu Joseph, student editor were present on the occasion.

Heeding to the demand of the audience, Dr B Jayashree sung a folk song which mesmerised one and all at the end of the programme.
