Kadaba, Jan 25: A bus conductor compelled a college student to report to the police station after the student presented a photocopy of his bus pass instead of the original. The incident occurred on Wednesday in Kadaba.
The bus, en route from Kallugudde in Kadaba to Puttur via Shantimogaru, became the scene of the incident. Ravi Ganesh, the first-year PU student from Kadaba Government PU College, boarded the bus at Peradka. When asked for his bus pass, he provided a photocopy, leading the conductor to claim that possessing a photocopy is against the law. The conductor confiscated the college student's identity card and directed him to the Kadaba police station.

Despite Ravi Ganesh's plea that he had practical exams and was running late, the conductor remained firm, physically taking him to the police station, as witnessed by Ravi Ganesh's classmates at the scene. Onlookers also expressed their dissatisfaction with the conductor's actions. After Ravi Ganesh's father contacted the police and explained that his son had an ongoing examination, the student was allowed to retrieve his identity card and attend the exam.
Ravi Ganesh explained that he had lost his original bus pass some months ago and, as a precaution, had made a colour photocopy for use in emergencies.
