ISI Agent Arrested Near Lucknow

Lucknow, Sep 18: A trained ISI agent was arrested by sleuths of  Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Rail Bazar locality of Kanpur around 90 kms from Lucknow on Sunday. ATS recovered phone numbers of ISI officials, email ids and documents related to Indian Army from his possession.

The arrested agent has been identified as Faizal Rehman, s/o Fazlur Rehman, a resident of CD-497, Sector-2, Bhurwa, Ranchi, Jharkhand. His wife is Pakistani national and he frequented Pakistan to meet her often where he came in contact with ISI officials who lured him to work for them.

A case in this regard has been registered by ATS team at Rail Bazar police station in Kanpur and further interrogation is going on by several intelligence agencies.

The agent is a native of Jharkhand and completed his primary education in Ranchi. Later, he went to Russion for doing engineering between 1993-1996 but failed as his agent duped him and did not deposite his fees. Later, he visited Pakistan in 1997 to meet his aunt where he was engaged to his aunt's daughter Saima Fehmi. She married the girl later who is presently a lecturer in a college at Karachi.

He thus used to frequent Pakistan for meeting his wife where he came in contact in 2002 with ISI officials. He was lured into working as their agents to provide information from various army establishments located at Jharkhand, UP and MP. He was paid lakhs of rupees through hawala and Western Union Money Transfer. Due to his contacts, he also sent several youths for training to Pakistan.
