Udupi, Jan 31: On the day of Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom, a human chain symbolizing unity was formed through the collaborative efforts of various organizations under the leadership of Souharda Karnataka and Sahabalve Udupi, throughout the district.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Mother of sorrows Church Udupi parish priest Fr. Charles Menezes, along with Abu Backer Nejar, joined hands to initiate the program by releasing balloons near the Service Bus Stand in Udupi town. On this occasion, Nada Mani Nalakuru sang songs of peace, love, and harmony.
Speaking thereafter, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, "Mahatma Gandhi is a devout follower of Rama. He brought independence for the sake of humanity, peace, and equality. We must strive to maintain harmony in society and convey the message of peace and harmony to the world. Gandhi's principles of non-violence are timeless and are essential for maintaining harmony in society."
From K M Road to Service Bus Stand, everyone stood hand in hand to create the human chain of harmony. On this occasion, Yaseen Malpe, the district president Muslim Okkuta, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, the district president of Congress, Sundar Mastar, Fr William Martis, Dr Gnananath Ekkar, and representatives of various organizations were present.
