Bengaluru, Jan 31: After inviting the wrath of BJP-JDS over Mandya district administration’s decision of removing the saffron flag of Hanuman, BJP opposition leader R Ashoka has ridiculed the "sudden love" of ruling Congress party for the national tricolor.
In a post on social media platform X, Ashoka said the then Congress government had prevented BJP leaders from carrying out the Ekta Yatra for hoisting the national flag at the Lal Chowk of Srinagar on the 2011 Republic Day and had prevented State BJP leaders from hoisting the national flag at the Idgah Maidan in Hubballi. The same Congress party had prevented hoisting of national flag at the Chamaramarjpet grounds in Bengaluru, which was allowed when he was Revenue Minister in the BJP government after 75 years.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is allergic to saffron colour or the flag and has exhibited his ‘’hatred of Hanuman flag’’ on the pretext of the national flag. “Has he forgotten that the national flag also has orange colour?’’ he said pointed out that saffron is sacred to Hindus and is a symbol of sacrifice.
“The Hindus will remove you (chief minister) from power just as the saffron flag of removed at Keragodu in Mandya district,” the BJP leader has warned.
