Bengaluru, Feb 2: The Central investigation agencies of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are no longer independent and autonomous investigating agencies but have become subordinate bodies of the ruling BJP, accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
In a social media post on X, the Chief Minister has tweeted that the figures of raids and investigations carried out by CBI and ED during the last 10 years of Narendra Modi government’s rule are proof of the charge that CBI and ED are no longer independent and autonomous.
Quoting a report by the Indian Express daily, the Chief Minister said CBI and ED have conducted a total of raids and investigations against 115 persons belonging to the non-BJP opposition parties while the figures for BJP and its NDA allies was barely 6.
“The situation in the country under the Modi regime is such that the non-BJP opposition parties are forced to party the ruling BJP as well as its subordinate organisations of CBI and ED. The selfish policies of BJP regime have crossed all limits,’’ he said.
Siddaramaiah said the country’s Constitution and democracy are facing extinction under the BJP rule.
