Mangaluru, Feb 2: City municipality of Ullal in a publication said that the public auction of shops of Thokkottu Olapete market, which was held back since four years due to certain reasons, will be held on February 3 at the auditorium of Ullal city municipality.

Thokkottu Olapete market which was in dilapidated condition was demolished. Later, under the City development phase-3 scheme was built newly. The market has 23 shops. The auction was not held since four years due to various reasons.

When the market was demolished, 16 traders were doing business in the market. While renovation all were asked to vacate. On July 7, 2019, when the work of the new building got over, 16 old traders were allotted shops with 200 sq ft area as per the government circular. Accordingly, the owners of the shops who have paid the pending rent in full, are allowed to take part in the auction. The remaining seven shops are reserved for general, SC, ST and differently abled people as per the government circular. The fish market will be given to public in open auction. This action is taken transparently as per the circular of the government. No violation of rules has taken place according to the publication given by the city municipal commissioner of Ullal city municipality.
