Udupi: Senior BJP leader Somashekar Bhat passes away

Udupi, Feb 4: Somashekar Bhat, the senior-most BJP leader in Udupi, breathed his last on Sunday, February 4.

He was 89 years old. 

He had previously served as vice president of TMC in Udupi.

Bhat was a stalwart in the party, with a strong presence dating back to the Jan Sangh era, and played a pivotal role in the growth of the BJP.

In 2020, he received a call from prime minister Narendra Modi inquiring about his health conditions, highlighting his significance within the party.

Known for his close association with Dr V S Acharya, Somashekar Bhat leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service to the BJP.
