Mangaluru, Feb 8: Dakshina Kannada KPCC president, Harish Kumar, announced a mega event organized by the Congress party in Mangaluru on February 17. The event, with KPCC permission, will feature party leaders, including Malikarjun Kharge, and will take place opposite Sahyadri College starting at 2 pm.

Harish Kumar explained, "This event, initially scheduled for January 21, was delayed due to some issues. All Congress members, including prominent leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sandeep Surjewala, DyCM D K Shivakumar, CM Siddaramaiah, Roji John, Salim Ahmed, and those who stood for voting from 224 constituency seats and gram panchayat heads, will participate."

He highlighted that the event would focus on the party's guarantee schemes, which have seen success with four schemes implemented within a few months. As Lok Sabha elections approach, Kumar stated that the party plans to inform about its promises, building on the success of securing 136 constituencies in Karnataka.

Kumar addressed recent protests in Delhi, where chief minister and KPCC President demanded appropriate funds for Karnataka. He emphasized the government's efforts, spending 5,000 crore rupees monthly and implementing schemes to alleviate the impact of drought, electricity bills, unemployment, and under the Gruha laxmi scheme.

"Till now, 7 committees have been formed, and tomorrow, Dinesh Gundurao will meet everyone regarding this event. On Monday and Tuesday, Ramanath Rai, along with his team, will also be present at all eight places," added Kumar.

Responding to questions about the event's scale, Kumar stated, "We prefer Quality over Quantity. We are expecting nearly 30,000 people. Congress aims to encourage and give hope to party members, including those from Udupi and Mangaluru, emphasizing its historical success in Lok Sabha elections."

On this occasion, Ibrahim Kodijal, former district president, Manoraj Rajeev, Niraj Chandrapal, Shubodaya Alva, T K Sudhir, Lawrence D'Souza, Poornesh Bhandary, and Ganesh Poojary were present.
