Beltangady, Feb 12: A distressing incident unfolded as an SSLC student, who had attempted suicide by consuming poison, succumbed on Monday, February 12, as medical interventions proved unsuccessful. The drawing teacher, accused of playing a role in provoking the extreme act, has been apprehended.
Identified as Trisha (16), the deceased student was the daughter of the Kishore-Soumya couple from Pijattadka, Dharmasthala. Roopesh is the teacher arrested.
Trisha was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru on February 7 after ingesting poison. Subsequently, she was transferred to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for advanced medical care two days ago. Unfortunately, the student breathed her last there early this morning.
Allegedly, the SSLC student, enrolled in a private educational institution, attempted to end her life following humiliation triggered by a derogatory message sent about her to another student by her drawing teacher, Roopesh.
A case has been registered at the Dharmasthala police station, and investigations are currently underway to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
