Mangaluru, Feb 22: Srinivas University, A Shama Rao Foundation, and Srinivas Group of Colleges collaboratively organized Lord Srinivasa Prathista Procession held on February 21, at Vaikunta, the serene Srinivas campus located in Valachil, Mangaluru. This event served as a testament to the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the region.

The Vaidika rituals commenced with solemnity, featuring a series of auspicious ceremonies including Navagraha Shanthi Homa, Chakrabhja Mandala Pooje, Lakshmi Narayana Homa, Vayusthuthi Punascharana Homa, Shanthi Prayaschitha Homa, Aadivasa Homa, Shayadivaasa, Kalasha Mandala Rachane, Kalasha Pooje, Aghora Homa, Lakshmi Durga Pooje, and Ashlesha Bali. These rituals invoked blessings and prosperity, setting a serene ambiance for the day’s festivities.

The cultural extravaganza unfolded with melodious bhajans, captivating saree dance performances, and Yakshagana – Krishnarjuna Kalaga. Attendees were enthralled by the rich tapestry of traditions showcased through these performances, which reflected the essence of Mangaluru’s cultural heritage.

A significant highlight of the event was the grand procession, wherein participants and spectators alike united in a jubilant display of unity and reverence. The procession featured various cultural performances including Kumba Kalasha, Chende Taala, Navadurga's performance, Kunitha Bhajane, ISKCON Sankeerthane, Bantwal's Chilipili Bombe, Dollu Kunitha, Nasic Band, Pooja Kunitha, and the procession of Lord Srinivasa carried in a decorated vehicle. Accompanied by music, chanting, and thousands of students, faculty, staff, devotees, and visitors, this grand procession exemplified the spirit of celebration and devotion.

The presence of esteemed dignitaries added to the grandeur of the occasion. Srinivas University chancellor Dr. CA A Raghavendra Rao, and pro-chancellor, Dr A Srinivas Rao, along with distinguished members of the board of governors A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, Prof Mitra S Rao, and Padmini Kumar were present.

The event served as a beacon of spiritual enlightenment and cultural celebration, bringing together communities in a spirit of harmony and reverence.
