Probe S P Mookerjee's Death: BJP

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday demanded setting up of a commission to probe the "mysterious death" of Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in Srinagar in 1953.

Speaking at a book launch function here, BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had termed Mookerjee's death a "murder under a conspiracy hatched by (Sheikh) Abdullah and (Jawaharlal) Nehru".

Releasing the book "The Search for Netaji - New Findings" by Purabi Roy, Vijay demanded a commission to probe his death on the lines of the Mukherjee Commission set up to probe disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

"Subhas Bose was the enemy number one of the British government, Shyama Prasad Mookerjee was the enemy number one of the followers of the British colonialism. Hence, he became an eyesore for forces against nationalism," Vijay said.
