Mangaluru, Feb 23: “Justice is being denied to us, even though Kulai resident Moidin Farhan, who was admitted to a private ortho hospital for a minor leg injury, died three months ago,” alleged his family members.
The family staged protests near the hospital, claiming that excessive anesthesia administered during the leg surgery on November 22 led to the boy’s death.
In a high-level investigation led by KPCC chief secretary Inayat Ali and DYFI state president Munir Katipalla, a detailed inquiry was demanded. The district in-charge minister directed a team of expert doctors, under the leadership of the district health officer, to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report within a specified timeframe.
“The investigating team claims that the post-mortem report has been sent to the forensic laboratory in Mysuru, and the final report cannot be issued until their report arrives,” alleged the family.
“The family of the deceased accuses that the report is purposely delayed to deny justice. We trust the state government and are confident of getting justice,” said Hasanabba, the grandfather of the deceased child.
The district health officer stated that the report has been sent for the signature of eight specialist doctors. “It will be handed over to the concerned on Monday or Tuesday.”
“According to sources, it is said that the forensic lab report reached the investigating team months ago, but the medical officer is delaying its issuance,” stated the aggrieved family of the deceased.
