Haveri: Yeddyurappa Proposes to Write Book on Santosh Hegde's 'Bias'

Haveri, Sep 26: Former Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, let loose a diatribe against former state Lokayukta, N Santosh Hegde, for showing 'discrimination' and 'bias' while submitting his final report on illegal mining in the state. He was speaking after taking part in the inaugural of Sri Kumareshwara Prasada Nilaya, auditorium building, and residential quarters of fire brigade personnel at Hangal in the district on Sunday September 25.

“In the earlier report of the Lokayukta, the name of former CM, Dharam Singh had found a mention. However, his name does not figure in the final report,” he pointed out. Yeddyurappa said that he had to lose his position as the state CM without any justification just because of the fact that Justice Hegde had included his name arbitrarily in his report.

“Because of these things, I even have been forced to appear in the courts. To make the people aware of the truth behind these things, I will shortly bring out a book, which is being printed at present. This book will be my reply to illegal mining allegations contained in Lokayukta report,” he said.

Yeddy alleged that some people, working with a well-planned conspiracy, have made him to be branded as an accused, although he was an honest person. He said being in politics, he will not be deterred by these allegations, and that he will emerge again after getting himself absolved of these charges.

Tears welled up in Yeddyurappa's eyes when Basavaraj Bommai, who also participated in the programme, praised him and expressed anguish at the fact that Yeddy was forced to appear in courts after working hard for the state’s progress, in his address.

In the meantime, the announcement made by Yeddy to undertake state-wide three-month Rath Yatra from October 10 onwards, has met with resistance from the party leaders. The party leadership is angry that Yeddyyurappa announced about his Rath Yatra without consulting the Chief Minister, state BJP president, or office bearers. The state BJP unit has planned to hold region-wise meets of party activists in the state as an effort to uplift the image of the party.
