Van Carrying School Kids Falls into Canal in Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 (IANS): A school van carrying around 25 children plunged into a canal near here Monday evening, a Kerala legislator said.

All the students of the Jyothi Nilayam School near here were aged below 12 years, said Nedumangad constituency legislator Palode Ravi.

"The van has been pulled out of the canal and all those taken out have been moved to the hospital and so far there is no bad news," said the legislator.

He said that locals jumped into the canal rescued many children. Police and fire brigade teams are conducting salvage and rescue operations.
