Lucknow, Sep 26: Security men swooped upon Charbagh railway station of Lucknow following a bomb threat on Monday September 26. The threat which came through email to a news channel in Delhi was communicated to senior railway officials.

Hundreds of jawans from Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force personnels searched every nook and corner of the Charbagh railway station and finally declared the threat as a hoax, much to the relief of passengers.

As per the reports, Additional Director General (Railways) AK Jain was informed by a television news channel journalist about receiving an e-mail threat to blow up Charbagh station's platform number 5, 6 and 7 at around 12.30 pm. As UP is already on terrorist's radar, the threat was taken seriously. Within minutes the platforms were evacuated and a search operation launched. Finally after nearly two hours of searching nothing was found and the passengers were allowed entry on the platforms. They were also allowed to board the train.

The security officials however are in no mood to take the matter lying down. ADG AK Jain stated that the content of the email which has pro-Pakistan slogans will be investigated and the culprit will be arrested. The cyber crime unit of the UP Police and Anti Terror Squad have been asked to take up the case.

UP is on high alert these days as festive season has set in with heavy rush in trains. Leaves of all security persons have been cancelled.

Despite the efforts, a low intensity bomb exploded in the sensitive Gorakshnath Temple in Gorakhpur around 300 kms from Lucknow on Sunday. The temple is the seat of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath. Security officials however termed it as a fire cracker and ruled out any terror angle.
