Bellary: Medical PG Exam Scandal – Arrest Warrant for Main Accused

Daijiworld Media Network – Bellary (SP)

Bellary, Sep 27: Warrant has been issued for the arrest of Dr Vinayak Prasanna belonging to the department of forensic science in Vijayanar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) here for his alleged involvement in examination irregularities relating to the postgraduate entrance examination of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) conducted last year.

Seven candidates who appeared for the entrance examination held on January 31 last from this centre had secured top ranks. The Criminal Investigation Department officials, who are entrusted with the investigation of these irregularities, have issued arrest warrant against Dr Prasanna. It is learnt that Prasanna has remained out of reach since the last five days.

Several doctors working for VIMS and people close to them had opted to appear for the entrance examination at the college. All of them had come out with flying colours. All the top ranks had gone to candidates who were allotted seats in a particular room at VIMS. In connection with the scandal, the police have already arrested a person named Hemantraj, working in the examination department of RGUHS. The police had also served notices on four employees of VIMS to appear before them for inquiry at Bangalore on September 23, but Dr Prasanna skipped the inquiry.

The department had thereafter, asked VIMS principal, Dr A Srinivas Murthy, not to sanction any leave to Dr Prasanna, taking serious view of the fact that he remained absent from the inquiry without any reason. The police said that Dr Prasanna has been on unauthorized absence from work since the last five days.

A number of candidates, who were disappointed with the exam results, had approached the Lokayukta. The state government too had handed over the case to CID based on numerous complaints it received. The police vigorously searched for Dr Prasanna in the town on Monday, but to no avail.

This is a tip of iceburg....

Students caught are less previledged ones - 9 ranks from one room shows their lack of professionalism.
There are instances of paying 1 lakh for each mark - this instances never come out because they are planned for perfection without raising suspecion.

There is a need to shakeup the entire system

its not only the matter of arrest but you should ask the university to do re-counselling because all top seats are taken by the students who are even not elgible to take those seats . no matter how many days are over because its the matter of those students who work day and night to take their dream seat . inspite of hard work they still dont get the seat because of various activities like this going on. its not only in KCET but also in other enterance examinations.

Dr Prasanna lost his ethical and moral right to practice as a DOC.In professional education need urgent cleansing,as mismanagement,
corruptions, illegal Capitation fees are rampant.Every year there is a tug of war between Professional educational Managements versus Govt over the issue of stipulated fees(business) by govt. There should be a crystal clear professional Education Policy that should be followed by both parties. In between students and parents are the looser.
