Udupi, Mar 4: "Decision about my political career will be taken within one week after consulting with my friends and family,” stated Jayaprakash Hegde, former chairman of the Other Backward Class Commission and a prominent leader.
"I am pleased that my name is receiving attention in the media. Neither the Congress party nor I have officially confirmed any plans regarding my joining the Congress party. Today, I will be traveling to Bengaluru for personal matters, and upon my return, I will make a decision regarding my political career. Upon my appointment as the chairman of the Backward Class Commission, I naturally became a nonpartisan individual, so currently, I am not affiliated with any political party," he added.
Speaking about contesting polls from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency, Hegde stated, “I will first decide whether to contest or not, and then consider which party to align with. If I choose not to contest, I will find mental peace. However, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the poorest of the poor during my tenure as chairman of the commission.”
