Mangaluru, March 7: “The chief minister Siddaramaiah-led state government has implemented the five guarantees within eight months of assuming authority,” said MLC Harish Kumar.
He was speaking after inaugurating the convention of the beneficiaries of the five guarantees of the state government. The convention was held by the district and Mangaluru taluk administration at the Karavali festival grounds on Thursday, March 7.
“Four out of the five guarantees promised during elections were implemented by the state government within three months of assuming power. The Yuvanidhi has been implemented now and the government has kept up its promise. The chief minister has done as he said,” he said.
The Shakthi scheme has benefited all groups of people in the state. Women are traveling by government buses with joy in more numbers. Crores of women have gained by the Grihalakshmi scheme. Gruha Jyothi scheme too has been a success. People are leading comfortable lives,” explained Harish Kumar.
MLC Manjunath Bhandary chaired the programme and spoke on the occasion.
Mescom MD Padmavathi, DC Mullai Mugilan, zilla panchayat chief executive officer Dr Anand, Cashew Development Corporation president Mamata Gatty, Muda president Sadashiva Ullal, corporators Shashidhar Hegde, A C Vinayaraj, Anil Kumar, Bhasker Moily and others were present.
Taluk panchayat chief executive officer Mahesh Kumar gave details of the programme. “As many as 3,524 people are making use of Antyodaya ration cards and 42,642 of them are holding priority ration cards. The Griha Lakshmi scheme has reached 77,573 people in the taluk while the Griha Jyothi scheme has reached 1,41,873 houses,” said Mahesh Kumar.
Several beneficiaries of guarantee projects expressed their opinions.
Empty chairs greet officials at meet
Meanwhile, empty chairs were seen greeting the officials during the guarantee convention for the beneficiaries of Mangaluru taluk here at Karavali grounds.
Prior to the commencement of the programme women had gathered in booths put up to register themselves as beneficiaries under the guarantee schemes.
As soon as the formal function commenced, the registration booths were stopped due to which women gathered in the ground dispersed without attending the formal function due to which empty chairs were seen through out the formal function.
Mangaluru assistant commissioner Mahesh welcomed. Mangaluru city corporation officer Malini proposed the vote of thanks.
