Beltangady, Mar 9: Seon Ashram, an organization that provides shelter for the physically and mentally challenged, was established by Dr U.C. Paulose in 1998 in Gandibagilu village, Beltangady taluk. A heart-wrenching incident at the railway station compelled him to dedicate himself to serving the most vulnerable members of society. Over the years, Seon Ashram has served thousands of destitute individuals, including widows, orphans, and the physically abused, offering them care and support in a nurturing environment.
The primary objective of Seon Ashram is to enhance the quality of life for its residents, both physically and mentally, and to foster their self-reliance through various developmental initiatives. Currently, Seon provides shelter to over 400 inmates from different backgrounds, irrespective of caste or creed. In addition to its core activities, Seon Ashram implements various projects such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs), community development initiatives, child sponsorship programs, education for needy children, and pension support for senior citizens.
As Seon Ashram celebrates its silver jubilee, marking 25 years of dedicated service, it plans to hold a commemorative event on March 21 and 22 at Seon Ashram Silver Jubilee Ground in Gandibagilu, Beltangady taluk. The event will be graced by the chief minister Siddaramaiah, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala, Bishop Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha (diocese of Mangalore), Bishop Lawrence Mukkuzy, (diocese of Beltangady) Bishop Dr Thomasappa Antony Swamy (diocese of Chikkamagaluru) and other dignitaries.
