Mangaluru, Mar 9: A man crossing the road was fatally struck by a speeding car at Mudipu Junction on Friday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Siddique (48), a resident of Karopadi in Bantwal. Siddique, who had recently returned from working in the Gulf, had been back in his hometown for just two months. He was residing in an apartment at Deralakatte. Siddique had offered Namaz on Friday afternoon and was on his way home. Upon disembarking from the bus at Mudipu Junction, he stopped at a nearby ATM to withdraw money. Tragically, while crossing the road to catch another bus, he was struck by a car traveling towards Mangaluru.
The car involved in the accident was driven by Soorajnath. Siddique sustained severe head injuries from the impact and tragically passed away while being transported to a private hospital. Siddique, who was scheduled to return to a Gulf nation next week after his vacation, is survived by his parents, wife, and three children. A case has been registered at the south traffic police station in connection with the incident.
Kartik (12) tragically lost his life on December 27, 2022, at the same location. This incident took place near Mudipu Junior College while a pedestrian was crossing the road. The footpath in the area has been encroached upon by shop owners, leaving pedestrians with no choice but to walk in the middle of the road. Concerned members of the public have appealed to the administration to address the inconvenience faced by pedestrians along this stretch of the road.
