Udupi, March 11: As temperature is rising by the day, heat wave and the hot weather can have an adverse impact on our health.
The district disaster management authority has issued the following suggestions and advisory for the citizens to take precautionary measures in this connection:
“One should use umbrellas and remain in cool places as far as possible. We should wear thin, loose and white or light coloured cotton clothes. We should wear hats made of cotton or turban along with sunglasses. Senior citizens and children should drink more water."
The district administration has said, "Outdoor activities between 11 am and 4 pm should be reduced or avoided as much as possible. More curds and glucose (O.R.S.) should be consumed along with water. Suitable measures should be taken to reduce room temperature.”
"Those who have symptoms of heat stroke should be shifted to cool places. Ensure that the victim of heat stroke wears minimum clothes. The person should be sponged with cold water. Ice packs should be used or he should be kept in between ice blocks,” the advisory said.
“If there are no improvements in the person affected with heat stroke, he should be shifted to a hospital immediately.
