Kundapur, Mar 11: The confirmation of former MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, a senior BJP leader from the Byndoor Vidhan Sabha constituency, joining the Congress has been received. Reports suggest that he met with Congress party Karnataka in-charge and Rajya Sabha member, Randeep Surjewala, in Bengaluru on Monday to discuss his potential membership.
During the last elections, BJP did not grant a ticket to aspirant B M Sukumar Shetty and instead announced Gururaj Gantihole as the candidate. Unhappy with this decision, the former MLA B M Sukumar Shetty remained aloof.
State Congress spokesperson Sudheer Maroli and other state leaders were reportedly present during his meeting with the national Congress leaders in Bengaluru. It is expected that Sukumar Shetty will officially join the Congress party during one of the party’s upcoming events.
