Bantwal, Mar 12: A bike rider, seriously injured after his two-wheeler crashed into a tree, has succumbed in the hospital. The mishap occurred early in the morning on Tuesday, March 12, at Maripalla on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway.
The deceased has been identified as Akshith (25), a resident of Amtadi. He worked in a private company in Mangaluru and was heading home after completing his night shift around 4 am. As he reached Maripalla at around 4:30 am, he lost control of the bike and collided with a roadside tree, sustaining grievous injuries. Despite being rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor.
It is unclear whether the mishap occurred due to drowsiness or any other reason. Melkar traffic police visited the scene and are conducting an investigation.
