Mangaluru, Mar 12: A case has been filed at Konaje police station against Ullal police station officer H N Balakrishna. The accusation includes obstructing, assault, and threatening the life of a woman secretary of Nirmala Bharat Charitable Trust.
Two acres of land have been allotted to the trust on Survey No. 149 of Konaje village. On January 26, at around 8 am, the secretary of the trust, Latha Rai, along with members Dr C N Shankar Rao and Prof K M Balakrishna, went to the border area of the site. Around 11 am, Balakrishna H N, the then station officer of Konaje police station, arrived on the spot and allegedly verbally abused everyone present at the site.
Despite Latha Rai informing accused Balakrishna about the court order, he allegedly refused to comply, claiming to have orders from top officials to halt work at the site. He reportedly struck Latha Rai's hand, confiscated her mobile phone, and attempted to break it by throwing it on the ground. Additionally, it is alleged that Balakrishna also assaulted Abhishek Bhandary, who intervened to help Latha Rai and attempted to record the incident. Balakrishna purportedly shouted loudly and threatened to arrest everyone, instructing his station personnel to place them all in a police van.
A case has been registered against Balakrishna H N at the Konaje police station, following a complaint filed by Latha Rai.
