Udupi, March 13: “BJP should be made to 'go back' akin to the 'Go Back Shobha' campaign against her candidature so that the nation can survive,” said chief minister Siddaramaiah.
He was speaking during the conclave of the beneficiaries of the five guarantees held by the district administration. He laid the foundation stone for various projects and distributed facilities to the beneficiaries.
He said the BJP is neither in favour of the poor nor for social justice. “Modi has completed 10 years. Remove him from authority,” he said.
Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar gave a memento resembling Sri Krishna Math to the chief minister. The CM looked at it with interest. He asked the deputy commissioner present on the dais if district MLAs have been invited.
“All the MLAs in the district have escaped as they cannot speak the truth. We have kept the promises made to those who believed in us. Your blessings are enough for us,” he said.
“BJP is staging dramas when elections are approaching. They are leaving out important topics and speaking about religions. I have built two Rama Mandiras in our home town. BJP has separated Rama from Seetha, Lakshmana and Hanumantha. Udupi is the land of the intellectuals. Do not be fooled by colourful words of the BJP,” he said.
“We are spending Rs 36,000 crore this year. Karnataka has not gone bankrupt. Was it possible to lay foundation stones without money? Why are you BJP leaders uttering lies? Come let us discuss on the public forum. Has Shobha Karandlaje spoken to the prime minister in favour of the people at least once?” he asked.
District in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, fisheries minister Mankal Vaidya, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Jayaprakash Hegde and others were present.
